Standing in front of the Doges Palace in Venice. We were nearing the end of our time in the city of Venice, but still to come was a boat trip around the Venetian Lagoon. |

So with a last wistful look at the gondolas (can there be a more romantic mode of travel?) we carried on over the canal bridges. |

The Bridge of Sighs was the way from the Doges Palace to the prison and was so called after Tennyson visited and imagined prisoners peering through the heavy grills of the windows. |
