Riva Di Garda, 2003

It is our last day. Today is a trip around Lake Garda by coach and boat. Christina's party are also along for the ride.

At night two buildings on the mountain were floodlit - seeming to come from so high we expected to see only stars in the dark!

The mountains are so close to the lake that the road on the Eastern side was tunneled out of the cliffside by Mussolini's troops just before WWII.

Our first stop of the day is at Gardone.

And a gorgeous place it is too.

We didn't know it at the time but the boat (right) was waiting for us. We had a wander and then found a pavement cafe.

I can honestly say that we both felt immediately that we would like to come back to this place some day!
